In order to bring a child from another country into the United States for the purposes of adoption, you must comply with the laws and requirements of your state, the Citizen and Immigration Services (CIS), and your child’s birth country.

If your adoption is from a non-Hauge country:

Download from the Internet http://www.uscis.govusimmigpg.jpg/files/form/i-600a.pdf

    Complete the I-600-A  and submit it to your home study agency along with the fee for the application and fingerprints.  It is preferable that the home study accompany this application.  Make your check payable to the Department of Homeland Security.

      If you are adopting from a Hague country:

      Download from the internet http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/I800A.pdf

      Complete the I-800-A and Supplement 2 and submit it to your home study agency along with the fees for the application and fingerprints.  The home study MUST accompany the I-800-A.  Make your check payable to the Department of Homeland Security.
